GRAPHITIC STEEL ROLLS
The carbon content and matrix of graphite steel rolls are similar to those of adamite rolls. Its main character is that it contains a small amount of fine graphite in its microstructure, which will increase its resistance to fire crack and prevent oxidized scales from adhering.

Features
of GRAPHITIC STEEL ROLLS
- Improved Thermal Stability
The presence of finely dispersed graphite in the steel matrix helps relieve thermal stress during rolling. This structure reduces the tendency for thermal cracking under fluctuating temperature conditions.
- Stable Friction Behavior and Reduced Adhesion
Graphite provides a mild self-lubricating effect at the roll surface, improving friction conditions between the roll and the workpiece. This contributes to stable rolling and lowers the risk of sticking or material pickup.
- Balanced Mechanical Properties
Compared with high-chromium cast iron rolls, graphitic steel rolls offer higher toughness and better resistance to fracture. They can withstand impact loads and cyclic stresses encountered in roughing and intermediate rolling stands.
- Moderate Wear Resistance
The wear resistance of graphitic steel rolls is lower than that of high-speed steel and high-chromium cast iron rolls. However, it is sufficient for medium-load rolling applications where extreme wear resistance is not the primary requirement.
